Having good vision for athletic competition means a whole lot more than just being able to read a stationary eye chart in a doctor’s office. Sports Vision is the term used to describe this aspect of eyesight and it consists of many different visual skills and motor skills. The following information will educate you on Sports Vision and how improving it will help you take your game to a higher level. Athletes can improve their Sports Vision through vision training, eye exercises, and by using our Vizuo XL nutritional formula. Dynamic Visual Acuity Dynamic Visual Acuity is the ability to track fast moving objects. Many sports require the athlete to track objects moving at high rates of speed such as a baseball, tennis ball, hockey puck, etc. It also comes into play when the athlete is moving at a fast speed, such as skiers, bicyclists, race car drivers, etc. Vizuo XL is the only nutritional supplement that contains DVAC – Dynamic Visual Acuity Complex™ which will help the athlete excel in this regard. Peripheral Vision Peripheral Vision is the ability to see “out of the corner of your eye”. The ability to see more of the field without turning your head is crucial for most sports with wide playing areas such as football, hockey, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. This will also help you prevent injury in contact sports, as being able to see an attacker coming at you from the side is critical. ConcentrationConcentration is the ability to focus on the task at hand while having to deal with unruly fans, opponents trying to "get under your skin", etc. Elite athletes who have mastered the art of concentration can block out all these other distractions that would otherwise destroy the performance of a lesser skilled athlete. Vizuo XL contains brain support nutrients that will help you GET IN THE ZONE! Depth Perception Depth Perception is the ability to accurately gauge the distance to an object. In order to precisely strike an object, catch a ball, etc; you need to have outstanding depth perception. Focusing and Focus Flexibility Focusing is the ability of the eyes to converge light properly in order to render an image in clear detail. Focus flexibility is the ability to keep a ball in sharp focus as it moves towards you. This is a critical skill if an athlete wants to succeed in sports like baseball or tennis and many others. Visual Memory Visual Memory is the ability to continually record where other players and objects are so that you can strategically plan your next move. Players that always seem to be “in the right place, at the right time” have excellent visual memory. This is critical in sports where there are many players on the field at the same time. Hand-Eye Coordination Hand-Eye Coordination is the ability of the brain to receive visual information, process it, and then send electrical impulses through the nervous system to the hands, so that they can move properly. Foot-Eye Coordination Foot-Eye Coordination is the ability of the brain to receive visual information, process it, and then send electrical impulses through the nervous system to the feet, so that they can move properly. Reaction SpeedReaction Speed is the ability of the brain to quickly process visual information and then signal the body to move fast. Vizuo XL contains ingredients that improve blood flow and boost neurotransmitters such as dopamine and acetylcholine, which are crucial for quick reaction time. Sports Vision Training and Eye ExercisesMany athletes lift weights in order to become stronger and perform better on the playing field. However, most people do not realize that the eyes, just like muscles, can be trained with certain exercises in order to become stronger and perform better. Quick Focus Drill Place an eye chart on a wall 20 feet away. (It doesn’t have to be a professional eye chart; you can just print some letters on your computer and hang it up). Then hold in your hand a piece of paper with very small writing. Hold this paper at eye level 6 inches from your nose. Focus on the chart on the wall and then try to quickly focus on a small letter on the paper in front of your nose. Do this without moving your head, just move your eyes. This exercise will train you to be able to quickly focus on objects that are moving towards you and away from you. It is a great exercise for baseball players and can be modified so you can do it before every plate appearance. Just hold a bat in front of your face and focus on something far away, like a number or letter on a fielder’s jersey. Then quickly shift your focus to a small letter that is written on the barrel of the bat. Do this 10 times. Depth Perception Drill Hold a straw at arms length in front of you. In your other hand hold a tooth pick and try to place it through the opening in the straw. Alternate, so that you use both hands. To make it more difficult, try it with one eye closed. Juggling This one comes from the circus but it’s not just for clowns! Juggling is one of the best exercises you can do for vision as it works eye-hand coordination, depth perception, peripheral vision, and other components of Sports Vision. You can find much information on the Internet about the proper way to juggle.
